Life Skills
Life Skills should be taught in high school. I am currently teaching a series of Life Skills class about Boundaries. God has me teach classes that he wants me to learn.
Boundaries are basically knowing when to say Yes and when to say No. I said Yes to photographing a wedding last week. This cute couple said Yes to each other, From This Day Forward. I’ve said Yes to so many things lately, I was up in the middle of the night, apparently worried because, now I have to say No. But boundaries are good for us. Proverbs 4:23 says, Above all else, guard your heart for it is where life comes from. In order to protect my life, I need to set up certain boundaries. It is so much fun to say Yes. It is not fun to say No. Someone will be disappointed or sad if I say No and I don’t like to be responsible for letting someone down.
But last night, in the middle of the night, Jesus reminded me that I am not their Savior, He is. And sometimes I have to let someone down so they can learn to rely on Jesus, their Savior, the One who can fix them. I can’t fix them, it’s not my job. God clearly told me to Let Him do His job. Sometimes I have to say No to someone so they can say Yes to Jesus. This is a hard Life Skill to learn, but so valuable.
Proverbs 4:22 says Wisdom is life to those who find it and health to a body. I want Life and health, so I need to pay attention and listen closely to wisdom. I want to encourage you to do the same today.
